Todd Stanley, Head Tennis Professional
I have been teaching tennis for over 20 years. This is my second stint teaching tennis here at Rio Del Oro. After injuries forced me away from the game for a few years, I am excited about the opportunity to again be able to help others improve their tennis game. As an All-American tennis player and graduate of Sacramento State, I'm passionate about the game of tennis and enjoy helping players get the most out of their abilities.
My experience includes working with some of the top juniors and players in the country. I am still an avid tennis player. I was the Captain of a National Championship team in 2008, that was comprised of Spare Time tennis pros. Additionally, I have been ranked #1 in NorCal men's open doubles 10 times, winning over 100 sanctioned men’s open titles.
Casey Harris, Tennis Professional
I have been teaching tennis at Rio del Oro Racquet Club since 1998. During the first four years I served as the junior tennis coordinator and grew the program from 60 to 350 kids. Prior to coming to Rio del Oro Racquet Club, I was the junior and assistant pro at the Auburn Racquet Club for 4 years.
Kevin Kurtz, Tennis Professional
I can’t believe it has already been three years since I came to Rio del Oro Racquet Club. I was previously the director the junior tennis program at Arden Hills Country Club for 10 years. In addition, I have coached both the Jesuit and Loretto high school tennis teams. Currently, I’m the assistant head coach of the CSUS Men’s tennis team.
As an undergraduate, I played collegiate tennis for American River College and played on the local men’s open circuit. I graduated from CSUS and have completed training in tennis technology.
Chris Podesta, Tennis Professional
I have been an assistant tennis pro at Rio del Oro Racquet Club since 1999. As an undergraduate, I played tennis for both Sacramento State and University of California Davis. Currently I teach many fun clinics and private lessons for juniors, adults, and seniors. You can spot me on the court in my straw hat or behind the bar-be-cue at may of the club’s functions. I think I love tennis so much because of the great members and staff at Rio. Hope to meet you soon.
Joyce Martinez, Assistant Tennis Professional
I am happy to be joining the Rio del Oro tennis staff. I started in the summer of 2009 after I was done with my college career. I played division one tennis for Sacramento State University, where I went undefeated in Big Sky conference play and earned the “player of the week” award on five different occasions. I grew up playing in Mexico, where I was a very successful junior tennis player. I got to travel all over the world and represent my country in many different places including Spain, France, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. I am looking forward to meeting many of you and helping all of you with your tennis games.
Gergana Avramova, Assistant Tennis Professional
I played at Tennis Club Locomotiv, Plovdiv, Bulgaria for more then 15 years. I won singles and doubles tennis competitions and had top national junior and women’s rankings in Bulgaria. I played at the university level in Bulgaria for four years and played for a professional team in the Bayerischen Tennis-Verband League in Germany. I was the head tennis coach for Loretto High School for two years. Since 2006, I have been the Sacramento State assistant women’s tennis coach, director of the CSUS Hornet tennis summer camp, and coach at Spare Time Junior Tennis Academy at Rio del Oro. I have been an alternate for the Sacramento Capitals World Team Tennis and I also hold a USPTA Certification Professional 2. I have many years of playing and teaching experience and I am looking forward to sharing this with the members at Rio.
